Via email, the SF Chronicle is asking "Two Cents" participants:

"Has anything especially good or especially bad ever happened to you at a Starbucks?"

I'm interested in what has been your experience. Tell me!

Not at a Starbucks per se. I don't go to Starbucks, can't afford it, and I don't care for their coffee all that much. Like the frozen drinks, though. Anyway, I've always had good feelings about Starbucks. One, because they're named after a great literary character from one of my favorit books. Two, because they travelled with the Twin Cities=>Chicago AIDS Rides every year, serving free coffee every morning and evening to the riders and crew, complete with little tent and plastic tables and chairs inteh campsites, and setting out 1/2 and 1/2, different sugars and bottle of flavored syrups. And, every Fri each year (the last campsite of the trip) would be the Frappacino party. We're ride in all hot and sweaty, and they'd have tables lines with Frappacinos for us. Very gracious. Wonderful to have that amount of caring for us.

No-one actually likes Starbucks coffee. I wouldn't go there either but for the one on 18th Street in the Castro. It doesn't matter what you're drinking there, though - you're not there for the coffee!

Hope [livejournal.com profile] schnitz_mi doesn't read this; he's a Starbucks officiando.

*grin* Having got used to Italian coffee in Sydney, Starbucks always seems to me too bitter - instead of being silky and smooth, I feel they overroast the beans and they end up being a little too unpleasant. And I find that they tend to cover it up by adding lots of sugary items.

But then that's just what I got used to as I grew up. I've had discussions with people that love their coffee bitter.
