After lunch at Castro Tarts and some caffeine at Starbears, we hopped on the #24 bus to Pac Heights. We walked several blocks on Jackson past some beautiful homes, then went to the Haas-Lilenthal house for a tour.

The tour was led by a volunteer docent. The docent was worth every penny they pay her. Did I mention that she was a volunteer?

The house was built in 1886. It was a Queen Anne, and it was similar to the Clarke mansion in many ways. The similarities and seeing it as a single family home was the most interesting thing for me. I wouldn't put this on any "must-see" list, though. I've seen it mentioned in several tour guides, so at least now it's crossed off my own things-to-do-in-SF list.

Looks like a wonderful place to see.... was the docent a victorian hanger on? (wink)

I am sure it is one of many houses in your area. We don't have too many Victorians to see but do have some colonial ones....

Thanks for sharing.... if I had my druthers I would probably have some rambling Victorian fantasy. Instead I have a little cottage that will need some additions for living space augmentations and a nice little turret to hold the stairs that get to the second story.

I've always admired that house from the outside. but have never taken the tour. I only want the tour if I get to live in the house
