Spent a lot of yesterday working on a draft of my review. The review period ends December 31st, but my boss wants it completed by November 7th. I noted in the review that it was drafted about two months before end of period...

I went home at lunch to take out the trash bins. Having to catch the train after work, I wouldn't be home at a decent hour to take them out. The wheels are damned noisy. I took them out previously at 9pm and the neighbor came outside to see what all the noise was. Whatever.

I filled out an online job application this morning, and one of the questions was "DESCRIBE YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH DATA."

What a weird question. I was tempted to admit that I'm not a Trekkie, but that there other characters with whom I'd like some "experience."

When I moved to Kansas City, I had to leave my cats, Dick & Jane, behind with my sister Judy. A few years before I moved, both developed diabetes at age 10 and required shots. High maintenance cats. (I did give Judy my car in lieu of "child support" for them.) Dick died a few months after I moved to SF.

Jane's lasted through a lot since then. On death's door several times. She's been fairly unresponsive the past couple of weeks. Judy made an appointment last night to put her down. She gets to the vet, and Jane is quite alert. The vet said it was some treatable pancreatic problem. They get home, and Jane's acting like she was never sick. The cat's just trying to psych out my sister, I suppose.

No big plans for the weekend. Steve talked to the doctor yesterday. Might be bronchitis. He got some antibiotics, so hopefully he'll be feeling much better very soon. Meanwhile, we'll probably spend much of the weekend at home.

On Saturday, fellow American Bear, Chip Prince, is coming to town and staying with us for a couple days. He'll be in town for Stompede. Hopefully he'll be around the flat long enough to play the piano for a bit. God, he's good.
