The noise of the bus ride back from the lab was punctuated with flyovers from the Blue Angels. They are fun to watch, but I can't help thinking about how much it costs to fly those things "for entertainment." My tax dollars at work.

After wasting tax dollars on Tuesday's election, I get home to find yet another absentee ballot in the mail. I knew there were a couple items at the next election besides the mayoral race, but sheesh. The ballot has 17 items on it. Thank god I get the absentee ballot ahead of time so that I have time to check these things out.

Plumber

The plumber arrived at 6pm, right on schedule. I really like him. He's cute, quick, and doesn't make much conversation. His name is Boris Kats and works for Bay Area Plumbing. He got the broken copper piping fix and connected to the refrigerator's icemaker. He also showed me the correct knob for the dishwasher. All is working. Steve showed him the area in the bathroom where the leak occurred the other day from the upstairs neighbor's washing machine. Looks like that will be a lot of work, saved for another day at my landlord's expense. I'm happy to have a good plumber, a good doctor, and a good dentist! Now I just need a good electrician and a good housekeeper. Anyone you can refer?

We got to BOSF game night a bit after 7:30pm. Apparently we had missed the fireworks of exploding light fixtures. I played Uno for over an hour with Ken, Noel, and Rod (who had replaced Double-O-Steven who deserted us for a couple games of Scrabble). Meanwhile, Mark debuted the game "May I feel your package" where you guess contents of a pouch that is given to players. Something they'll be doing at IBR. I've got to remember to take something to IBR to replace the contents of the pouch. Something that no one can guess. That'll prolong the groping. It seemed everyone else had put their pouches around their necks. I think I was the only one to affix it to a belt loop so that my package dangled between my legs. Just my g++ coming out.

They started Taboo fairly early, so we were able to get two rounds in. I always enjoy that.

Lots of new faces at game night. Got to chat a bit with the visiting [livejournal.com profile] beardoc. Pretty fun evening.

Got news that the 4th quarter BOSF newsletter is online. Glad to have given up those duties! More typos than I like, but I'm no longer editor. I emailed to let 'em know about a big typo is a bold headline, but they just stated "it's too late. They've gone out." Um, the majority of members read it ONLINE. Sorry to hear it's too much trouble. One person's "let's market this club as poorly as possible" attitude makes me cringe.

Met David for lunch. We walked along the Embarcadero and stopped at Pier 1 Deli for lunch. I'd never eaten there. They had a good selection and we ate at a table outside. Beautiful weather today. Afterwards, we walked along to the end of Pier 1. Lots of people out there today watching the fighter jet do aerial maneuvers. I'd never walked to the end of Pier 1 before. I'll definitely do that again during lunch.

Looks like Zazzle.com has better quality items than CafePress. I've put my:

My job went to India and all I got was this lousy shirt

shirt out there.
