Slept well on Thursday night. Got up and had coffee, then Fred, Bryan, Steve and I went out to Coastal Kitchen for brunch. This month's theme was Brazilian food, so had some plantain on the side. Good stuff.

Steve and I left shortly before 1pm. Now familiar with Steve's navigational abilities, I memorized the directions before heading out. It rained for the whole drive, and it was as dark as night. Very eerie. Traffic wasn't too bad up to the border. Once we got to the border, it became a traffic nightmare. The border crossing itself took about one hour. I can live with that, but I wasn't prepared for the next 30 miles. It took us 3.5 hours to drive the approximately 30 miles from the border to downtown Vancouver. Apparently there was lots of flooding. We hit the tunnel in Richmond at rush hour, so we had 5 lanes of traffic merging into one lane. Unbelievable.

We got to our hotel at 6pm, which gave us enough time to check in, find somewhere to eat, then register before dancing at 7:30pm. There were lots of people I recognized from convention. It was a pretty good time dancing, with different level tips mixed throughout the evening. I did get a bit bored with the Mainstream calls and sat out a few. It was good to dance the A1/A2 tips, although they were pretty simple. Steve ended up on the dance floor during an A1 tip, and he managed to get through it okay. Before the trip, I had gone over the A1 calls that haven't yet been covered in his class.

We got done with dancing at 10pm. We went to the room, showered, changed, then headed off to Pumpjack's. It was a decent crowd, with some woofy guys. Oh, Canada! We stayed out until about 2am, then came back and crashed.
