May. 29th, 2003 09:00 amCrap. I spent 30 minutes updating my journal and accidentally deleted the entry. Grrrrr. I'm not up for doing it all over, so it'll be a condensed version.
Stopped at Cole Hardware yesterday and picked up a cordless drill. Got home and met Steve for lunch. Ate at Harvey's. Picked up more shelving stuff from Cliff's. Came home and started to install the shelving. Realized I had no level. Crap. Steve napped and I went out for a level. The shelving will need to wait until Thursday afternoon.
I worked from home for a bit. Later we went down the peninsula, where it was much hotter than the City. We shopped at Fry's to price camcorders. They ended up being the same price as at Wolf's in the Castro next to Safeway. Wolf's has some camcorder training available, so we'll just get it there.
Ate dinner at Sol. Not soul food, but Mexican. I didn't like my mole enchillada too much, but Steve's chilean bass was very good. He gave me a bite. I'll get that next time.
Got to square dancing about 20 minutes early. Guess that makes up for last week. We watched the Advanced class until 7pm. It was quite warm in there. Danced Plus until 7:45pm. The we had the general member meeting. That was supposed to be short and sweet, but it took an hour and nothing was really accomplished. Turns out the bylaws don't allow for revisions, so one of the changes they proposed was a way to revise the bylaws. Some good discussion ensued, but in the end, they wound up tabling everything and forming a committee to work on figuring the best way to get the bylaws revision thing added. Steve volunteered to be on that committee. He gets into too much detail for me, and I argue with him over stuff. We've agreed that this kind of stuff we should not work on together. I'm glad he's involved with it, just count me out!
Danced a couple more tips after the meeting. Dancing was ok. A bit hot. I was in a couple squares that broke down. Not my fault, but that's life. I made errors myself, but didn't break down the square. I limited my styling and extra twirls due to the heat. I had some stains from dinner on my shirt, and I was just a big, sweaty, messy blob. Yuk.
Got to Steve's a bit after 10pm. Watched the end of South Park, then I crashed. I woke up just a couple times during the night, but the alarm woke me up for good at 6am this morning. I'm still very tired, and today is gonna be a busy one. Steve got me to Caltrain around 6:30am. After finally getting the ticket machine to take my three wrinkled ones, it said that it was unable to print tickets and spit out my three bills. I went to the other machine, and some woman was waiting for it to authorize her debit card. The machine was stuck. She hit cancel, but nothing happened. She hit it a couple more times, then the damned thing rebooted itself. I tried the other machine again, but same thing. The one machine rebooted, and the woman got her ticket using cash. I saw the train coming. I was able to get my ticket just as the train pulled to a stop. Whew! Got a seat to myself and sat back and relaxed. At San Mateo, I saw a man rushing to the train and just missed it by about 15 seconds. Maybe he had ticket machine problems there.
Got to the office around 7:30am. My boss left an email that she'd be on vacation until Tuesday. Woohoo! Being "sick" tomorrow for my birthday will be that much easier. Yes, I've earned sick days, dammit.
Got lots to do. I'm going to be a mess tonight. I'm sure the party will be fine tomorrow. I'd just like the apartment to be in decent shape. That involves adding shelves, deck lighting, and making sure there's enough counter space and hopefully seating space. Wish me luck!
