Piano Delivered
May. 22nd, 2003 08:50 amYesterday flew by. Even at work. I got a reply from Michael about the good job I did on his research project. Around noon I caught the Schwuttle over to 101 Montgomery. I went to the The New Asia place at The Galleria for their combo. Too much food, but the price can't be beat. I stopped at the card store on the way out. In the entry, there was a sleeping kitten. I looked at it for awhile before I realized it was not real. For $13.50, I bought it, the last one in stock. It's made out of rabbit fur. If I'm not gonna have a real cat for awhile, I may as well have a good fake one. :-)
I got everything set up for the 1pm presentation. No problemo. John's instructions had been very clear. The presentation seemed to go ok. Lots more people attended this one that ours last week. Afterwards, I put things away. I tried to send out the follow-up email, but John's mailbox was too full, and the system wouldn't let me do it. I left John a phonemail about it, so either he'll call today to let me know what he'd like, or else he'll fix it when he returns tomorrow. I sent John's boss an email about how good of a job John did in showing me what to do.
I caught the Schwuttle back to 211 Main. I logged onto the e-Meeting, already 45 minutes into it. I didn't hear anything too exciting. 300 more jobs to be moved offshore this year. (Of course, no impact to current FTE's. Yeah, right.)
At 3pm we had "milk & cookies" with Joyce due to the small re-org. Nothing exciting there. Lots of movie talk. Someone was trying to figure out some "hot babe" in Matrix Reloaded or some other movie. Ray said he didn't "notice." He winked at me and laughed. It's been nearly a couple years since I fucked his tight ass.
I got home around 4pm. The piano movers were still out front, but the piano had been delivered. I guess there was some mix-up on payment. They had taken the credit card info over the phone, but the delivery guys didn't know or something. I just went out to the truck as they were getting off the phone saying things were figured out. I signed the delivery docs, and they were on their way. I played a couple songs on the piano. Sounds good! The acoustics there are much better than at Steve's. The piano does take up a LOT more room than we had figured. Once the rest of the furniture is delivered, it's gonna look pretty cramped. Damn. We'll work something out.
After playing the piano, I remembered about my new "cat." Steve sat down to play a song on the piano, and I "let the cat out of the bag." I put it on a pillow and showed Steve what "I got from the SPCA." He thought it was real. Even after I had let it sit in my bag for 10 minutes forgetting about it. He was talking about the landlord and feeling left out of the decision-making. LOL. I'd obviously consult with him before getting a pet, that big silly. I'll find a basket in which the cat can "sleep." I'm sure it will fool most people. We'll have to name it. "Gullible" might be appropriate.
We left for the peninsula and went to Cupertino to eat at Outback Steakhouse. I walked in and knew immediately what I wanted: that guy at the end of the bar. :-) Dark-haired cub of a guy with a goatee. Mmmmm. Steve wanted the same. Alas, we settled on sitting in a booth near him and ordered some steaks. Good food.
We left around 6:20pm. Steve said we were right near a mall where he thought they had the game "Fluxx." It took awhile to get their, then we ended up parking at the opposite end of the mall from the store. The clerk at Gamekeeper saw me walking up fast to the store and asked me what I was looking for before I even stepped into the store. He informed me that they were sold out. He did say to try Legends, 4 stores down. I walked in there and asked the clerk. Yep, they had it right there on the counter for $14.99. They rang it up and said it had been mispriced. I saw the other deck she had, and it said $11.99. Cool. Turns out, it was only $9.99. Even better!
We got to square dancing at 7:15pm. I was irritable. I hate being late for anything. It's just ingrained. I think it's one of the rudest things. I don't mind so much if others are late, but I'm embarassed if I'm ever late. Steve puts up with a lot. Just get me there on time, and we can avoid that irritability! I missed the first couple of tips. We did get in one tip before 7:30pm. I managed to even screw up a bit. Blame it on the heat. Very few fans were going. Andy called some interesting things, so that makes it fun. The rest of the night was ok. Nothing too exciting. I did pay attention to some of the Advanced class and learned some of the calls by watching. It'll make it much easier when I take the class with Steve in October. Advanced has so many calls, it's going to be much more difficult than Mainstream or Plus. I'm sure we'll do fine.
I got to Steve's and was very tired. His livingroom did not seem right without the piano. Although it looks huge in our new place, it was just right at his house. We moved some furniture around, but it just looks odd to me. We did move one black lacquer column thingy over to the front entrance, and that looks good. Steve will talk to the realtor to see if maybe it'd be better if he moved ALL his furniture up to the City and left the house empty. I think Steve is getting anxious for his house to sell. It doesn't seem like too very long, but that's a big thing to have hanging over your head. I went to bed and crashed at 11pm. I slept through the night for a change.
Got up at 6am and took a quick shower. Steve showed me the new potted flowers on his deck before we left. They look very nice. Hopefully they'll survive ok and last awhile once we move them up to the City to our place. I'm still excited about living with Steve full time. :-)
Caught the train to the City. I hate that commute. Sure beats driving, though! I'm sure I'll have a busy day at work, and then off to the dentist at 4pm and then going out with Jim Cunningham for dinner and then to see Leo in a play.
