Unfortunately the judge put a "hold" on the ruling, so there probably is only one gay couple legally married in Iowa, until they revoke the license. I don't think the issue will be resolved in the US in my lifetime.
I, of course, was happy to see that it was a Unitarian minister conducting the ceremony. Funny what we focus on!
Actually I am hopeful that true conservatives -- like those in Arizona who refused to ban gay marriage last year -- and younger people who grew up knowing queer folk will be a majority that undoes biased state laws.
I'm not asking for the Catholic church be forced to marry faggots. I want only for specific religions' views to be removed from civil law.
