CTRL-ALT DOWN ARROW

(cntrl-alt-up arrow fixes it)

I hadn't encountered that before.

EDIT: Guess it depends on your video card, per [livejournal.com profile] redbackfur. On our machines at work, it turned the screen upside down. Even the mouse worked "backwards."

I don't believe it, but I actually found an application for this.

Well, for the closely related ctrl-alt-left arrow.

I sometimes want to view, um, images, that are in the wrong aspect ratio for my screen. While it is possible to see all parts of the image while scrolling, there is something special about getting the whole image at once.

If I turn my screen to the side, I can view the whole image at once!

Not that I've had time to use this feature since you posted this this morning. Not even twice.

Just an FYI, it's only works on certain versions of Windows... I'm pretty sure it works on XP, but I don't know about Vista...

From the other comments, I'm guessing it rotates the screen? But I'm on XP and nothing happens.

It is part of your specific Video Card software that allows this.

I'm guessing this is turned off on a lot of machines. If you want to play with this, go to your display properties, either through the control panel, or by right-clicking on the desktop. Go to 'Settings' and click the advanced button there. If your video card will let you do this, one of the tabs there should let you turn this on. I can't say specifically which one, because it's different on different video cards.

Oh, and if you mess with this and screw up your display and can't remember how to get it back, you didn't hear this from me 'K?
