I started Nutrisystem yesterday. Having the meals preset is the kind of thing that helps me, so we'll see how it goes. Luckily, Steve is being helpful & supportive.

My first impression is that I'm hungry. My body is accustomed to eating a LOT. I like big portions. I'm sure this hunger thing will go away soon. Besides weight loss, I'm hoping to learn better portion control. Before starting, I've been told that the food "isn't bad." Well, it isn't that tasty, either. I've only had a few things, so maybe I'll find some things better than others.

I also woke up with severe leg cramps. I'm currently awaiting half a banana to work miracles. Time to buy more multivitamins.

I'm sure you know this, but drink as much water as you can - 8 8oz. glasses a day is the goal. It fills you up and puts off the hunger (at least it did for me).

I've been wanting to try that myself but I have a feeling that our freezer just isn't big enough for two peoples' worth of meals, and I couldn't leave my hubby out.

Portion control is my main downfall and I think it'd help a lot if it was all preset like that.

All the meals are shelf safe and there is nothing to do but unpack the box.

I ran it for 2 months. I had much success, especially learning. Month 1, the food was random, but I learned what i liked and didn't and ordered what I liked for month 2.

Good luck!

The thing about smaller portions is, the food has to be very satisfying in terms of taste, texture, etc. Often we experience the sensation of hunger not because we need nutrition but because we want to taste, chew and enjoy food.

I hope you find some NutriSystem items that you really like so that the satisfaction quotient is high enough to help you stick with it.

Happy New Year!

Well, I've been on the diet thing several times over the years - and the pre-planned meals didn't work for me. YMMV. I've found the points plan from WeightWatchers (no meetings, I do the online thing) has really worked out well. I can eat whatever I want, as long as I fess up on the points tracker. I've been known to throw in a pint of ice-cream from time to time - just had to adjust the points the rest of the week. So when a slip (or two) happens, I can incorporate it and maintain progress.

Good luck with the plan! Portion control really IS the issue, and yes, the hunger goes away - when you are asleep :-)

Good deal on starting Gary. Stick with it, it really helped me get things going. I did 2 months worth, and now I find myself really watching what I eat. Like when I go out to eat, I am only eating half of a meal. I do drink lots of water.

I remind myself when I question my smaller portions, that if I lose a littel weight, then I need fewer calories so I will be less hungry on same calorie intake.

At least that's what I'm going with! *stomach gurgles*
