Hidden carbs in coffee
Sep. 12th, 2003 11:49 amNutrition labels let products with less than 1 gram of carbs be listed on the label 0 carbs. I knew this. I didn't realize that coffee was one of these. I just read that it has 0.8 grams of carbs per 6 ounces. Diet soda, on the other hand, has zero.
Lemme give up coffee for a week and see if that makes a difference.

Date: 2003-09-12 01:47 pm (UTC)I Atkins and here is what I found. That food pyramid that the stupid government keeps selling has 300g of carbs in it. Atkins Induction Phase allows 20g a day and I allow myself only 10g because of all the hidden carbs in gum, mints, hot dogs, cheese, and lettuce of which I eat a lot for the first two weeks (in addition to eggs, chicken breasts, bacon, ground beef). Also eat 3 big meals with massive amounts of 0 carb chicken, fish, or beef. I will have 3 eggs or two chicken breasts, a 8oz. Fillet Mignon etc. and only green vegetables (in general they are lower).
Other things I keep around to munch on are Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts, olives, pickles, slices of cheese, chocolate whip cream in a can, and hard boiled eggs. I also like the Atkins muffins I bake them and keep them in the freezer and bring them out 2 at a time. They don't have any preservatives in it so they get gross after 2 days of being out.
There's my two cents, the longest I ever did it was for 2 months before going to Hawaii. I lost 25 pounds. I also exercised 4 times a week. I never cut out coffee or diet soda (although he says to).
Oh and a wonderful find at CVS is the Imported Pure Belgian Chocolate at only 3.4 carbs. Real chocolate doesn't have any added sugar I found out, it is only the evil Nestle, Mars, Hershey people that add it to their products. It's $1.99 for a small bar but perfect to eat at a movie.
I also find I don't lose while using the Atkins bars or anything with that new Net Carb accounting method. Sugar Alcohol is a fallacy, it is still sugar, stay away from products with that in it. The Carb Solutions bars from Target or Wal-Mart are really good though. Good luck!
