Doctor visit
Aug. 22nd, 2003 09:50 amGot my haircut during lunch. Later, after the plumber and work, I went to the doctor. My TRIP there will be a separate entry!
The doctor recommended hydrocortisone for my eyelid problem. He also remarked again on my tonsils. I've got HUGE tonsils. Doctors mention it a lot. This time, however, he discussed oral sex. He even used the phrase "going down." I love medical jargon. He said for me to avoid forcefulness. It could cause a tear in the tonsils, and possible bleeding. He just suggested to keep it slow and gentle. I told him, "I'll have to practice." Gentle is my thing, anyhow. I'll have to tell not-so-gentle-Witten about it.
My lipid profile was fine on Atkins. Cholesterol was 195. Triglycerides were 205.
My testerone level was fine. He discussed the new alternative for Viagra, saying it works faster, but is not as long lasting. He also said the new drug coming out at the end of the year is a "Friday night thing." You take it on Friday, and it's "good for all weekend." Kewl.
My HIV labwork was worse. My CD4 count was down to 330 from 459 last time and over 500 the time before. The percentage of t-helpers was down to 13% (previous times were 14%, 17%,19%, and 21%). My viral load was 6600, up from 4500 last time, and 2200 the time before. I'll go back for more labwork in 4 weeks. He suggested getting the work done in the afternoon, which might make a difference. Also, I had been fasting this past time due to the lipid profile. That might make a difference as well. If the bloodwork continues to decline, I'll have to go back on meds. It's been two years this month since I've taken any HIV meds. Hopefully I'll be able to stay off!
