Met the guys at Starbears around 6pm and then headed to Thai House Express at 19th & Castro. This is where My Friend My Friend China Court used to be. Steve and I ate there last week, and the service was the worst of any place I've seen in the Castro. We saw one couple get up and leave after sitting there ignored for 15 minutes. Tonight's service was somewhat better. Food was okay.

There was club dancing from 7:30-8pm. For the first tip, there wasn't enough for two squares, so [livejournal.com profile] sfbearhoney and I squared up to phantom. We did great. Steve something-or-other joined us later, making it a bit worse, but it was fun. Harlan called Track 3 and Track 4, explaining those with some additional comments about those calls. No one else knew that he was doing that for my benefit, as those are C3A calls. He did that last week with some other C3A calls. That man has a talent for making people feel special.

For the second tip, we had six couples, so Harlan did hexagon dancing. He didn't come with anything prepared for that, he just did it. Amazing. It was probably the first time that most of the people had done that, and it seemed that everyone had fun.

The class is doing great. Harlan explained Scoot Back in a way that seemed to get through to people better than I've seen other teachers do it.

The one really bad student seemed to wreak havoc. At one point, he was in a square with five other students, one bad angel, and only one good angel ([livejournal.com profile] sfbearhoney). That square broke down a LOT. I saw that [livejournal.com profile] rootbeer1 and [livejournal.com profile] albadger were also stuck in that square. They got my pity! Harlan finally had to do a "Scatter Promenade" to mix up the squares. Other than that, the students that I saw in my squares were exceptional. That doesn't mean perfect. You can see them make a mistake and then learn from it. Others seem to have learned to just "go with the flow," even if they don't understand everything. Yep, just like I end up doing some times!

Seemed like a fun night for both students and angels.

Agreed. Harlan is simply amazing. When I causually mentioned 'Move On' during announcements, don't you know that Harlan would pick up on it and go. VERY glad we have him as a teacher this year.

Yeah, I've been watching our one seriously lagging class member. I give him points for trying but could see last night that he was struggling. We're going to try and help him as best we can.

I was so glad when Harlan did the Scatter Promenade, I think he was feeling sorry for me. It was great to see you and everyone else last night. I need to get out of all this traveling.
