The boss was out yesterday. Why does that always seem like a holiday?

I've been trying to figure out a new career for when my job is shipped overseas. Although I've got a great brain for programming, I'm hoping to find something different. Actually, winning the lottery (I Freudingly just typed "sinning") would be a good choice for me, but I probably need a backup plan. Checked out jobs online. Plumbers don't make as much as I thought. I certainly have the crack for it, though. Bartending might suit me. I'm very quick, and I enjoy providing excellent service. Not sure if the tips would pay rent. Benefits is another issue. Not just for me, but having to provide domestic partner benefits. There's a bartending school in SF that can be done over 3 weekends for $595. I saw an online posting yesterday looking for bartenders either have 4 years experience OR being a recent bartending school graduate. To get the best tips, though, I'd have to work on my looks.

In yesterday's mail I received my camera. It was intact, with the 256mb memory card still in place. Not many good pics. Most were of the reelers.org tattoo temporarily on my ass. The other pics of me made me shudder. Guess I hit 40 and the looks have gone to pot. No wonder the guy rejected me on Friday. Doesn't look like dieting and going to the gym will fix things, but that's a start.

Last night was the first night of Plus class at Western Star. It was also my first night as an "Angel." I walk into the rec center, and the first two people I see are Merle and dowager-hair John. They've told John repeatedly that he can't take the Plus class since he is so bad. Knowing that they'd be talking to John and Merle, I tried to stay on the other side of the room. Ron started the music and we squared up. Both John and Merle were talking with folks at the back and didn't square up. Whew. They were told to leave. It's not fair of John to put people in that situation. Merle is a nice guy, but a terrible dancer. He's missed lots of classes, so I'm not sure if they had already told him he couldn't do Plus.

The rest of the class was pretty good. Much better without John. Some people I didn't know, so we'll see how they do. Although Nobu has taken the class as a "girl" before, I'm not sure if he'll improve. Steve refuses to dance in a square with him after having done that at convention. Ron taught them Teacup Chain, Acey Deucy, and Spin Chain Thru. He did a good job of instilling definition of Acey Deucy. He even did it from a Double Pass Thru formation, which I hadn't done before. We ended up having two squares including Ron. Ron provided the class members with a syllabus with the teaching order. That was a good idea, and I let him know so. He told the people they'd have to study, so it sounds like he's on the right track with this class.

Being an Angel was ok. I just smiled a lot and did the calls as directed. It wasn't too fun, but hopefully that'll improve. Being an Angel for Mainstream is going to be much harder. At least I'll be learning the boy part, so that will be my challenge. The Intro night is tonight. I had someone from GLOBES send out a reminder email yesterday. I also posted an m4m listing on Craigslist about it. Tonight after work I'll post an m4m4sex ad about it. My recruiting efforts have been significant for this class. I think most people are just seeing me as a crazy cult person. I'll tone it down after this.

After class, Joe, Bob, Don, Tom O., Steve Scott and I went to Starbucks. Had a good discussion about taking the A1 class. Even though Joe would have to miss some classes, I think we've convinced him to go. May as well learn it now. He's a strong Plus dancer, so he may as well move up. I only hope that I can live up to my reputation as a quick learner.

After making a dental appointment for a few weeks from now, I've developed a toothache. I took several Vicodin yesterday, but they didn't do much. The orajel has helped. Now I'm just dizzy from the two Vicodin I took this morning. Gonna be a blonde day...
