I caught the bus to Starbears around 7am. I was wearing a shirt over a t-shirt, but it was already so humid that I had to remove the outer shirt and stuff it in my bag. Kinda nice for 7am.
I caught the subway to Forest Hill Station, then transferred to the #43 bus. I had never been to City College, and I was unfamiliar with it. The bus stopped right in front of the college, so I got out. Then I proceeded to climb 562 stairs. Or 30-40. Something like that. There was no address listed on the building and no revealing signs. Turns out that I got off one bus stop too soon. The other bus stop was in front of the correct building with no stairs. D'oh.
The tests weren't bad. Being computerized, I got the results right after the tests. I got a 99% on the English exam, but it looks like I still have to take an English course. I got a 95+% on the Arithmetic section, and I got a 71+% on the Elementary Algebra section. From the print-out, it looks like I won't have to take either of those. I probably just scraped by the Algebra by one question, so I'm glad I studied "just enough."
After the placement tests, I did the online orientation. The next step was to meet with a counselor, but the woman pointed out that it was too far away for a gimp like me. I set up an appointment next week with a counselor in a building closer to the bus stop. I forgot how much walking these college kids do. Sheesh!
