A Murphy's Law Sunday
Jun. 21st, 2004 02:44 pmStarted off Sunday as usual with coffee and the newspaper. I knew I'd be going to Judith & Lily's for some C1 review from 1-3pm, so I checked email again for directions. Oh! It's from 12-3pm, meaning I have to leave in 40 minutes. Steve made an omelet while I showered.
Got down to the Castro and chatted with
ricksf for a few. I also chatted briefly with Jay and with Al from Vancouver, who told me about some "Fistfest" weekend. Lovely.
Caught the #35. Pat was on the bus. She knew how to get to J & L's, which was good. I had looked on the map, but the streets all wind around a lot over there. J & L's house was very nice. VERY nice. Not extravagant, but it was very roomy, with lots of neat details you find in some houses in SF.
Dancing was okay. We had 11 people, so there was lots of tagging in. I sat out quite a bit to let others dance who needed more practice. I wanted to save my brain for C2 later in the afternoon. Allan H. called. He did much better than his last C1 attempt. He included most calls from the C1 list. I doubt that it really helped anyone, but it was an enjoyable afternoon.
I left at 3:30pm to catch the 3:42pm #35 bus to get back for C2 dancing at 4pm. The bus didn't come. I waited and waited. Another woman at the bus stop called Muni. The bus had broken down. The next one would be at 4:12pm. Grrrrrr. That didn't arrive. The woman (who lived across the street and went inside between waiting) called again. It'd be another 15 minutes. Grrrrr. After waiting 90 minutes in the breezy hills of Glen Park, a bus finally showed up. I got to the venue at 5:15pm. No one was there. I found out today that they had 6 people show up. They danced what they could until 5:05pm and then left.
One of my favorite parts of the week is dancing C2 to Harlan. This was the last time our C2 class would meet. Grrrrrrrrr!
Got home to watch some TV. I bit into an almond, and part of a tooth broke. It broke down the middle. I had to wiggle it for awhile like a schoolkid in order to pull it out. Steve came home later from the LS, but no tooth fairy ever showed up.
