Stuffing / Bluffing / Luffing
Feb. 9th, 2004 11:34 amThe IBR registration packet stuffing party seemed to go well. The room had fewer non-stuffing items in it this year, so that seemed to help. We got done a bit before 3pm. Steve stayed to finish up his dinner reservation stuff, so I took Muni back to the Castro.
I went to the Midnight Squares dance. Betsy Gotta was calling C1, C2, and C3A. I wanted to get some floor time at C1. The dance had already been going on for awhile, and I missed the first three C1 tips, but I ended up getting in three. My first tip went pretty well. Not much bluffing to do. The second was worse, and the third broke down a lot. I made lots of mistakes. My mind wasn't focused, and it was my first time to dance to dance-speed C1 calling. I felt bad, but I'm more determined than ever to get in more C1 floortime. Knowing the definitions is one thing, but dancing them at speed can just come from experience.
Harlan showed up to do an hour of C2 review after Betsy's dance. My mind was fried, but the C2 class was much easier than the C1 dancing. Whew. It was good to get in some review. He showed us a couple "new" things as well, so I'm glad I was there.
Stopped at Cala for a few things. I haven't been drinking much soda at home, but I went ahead and bought a 2-liter bottle of Diet Coke with Lime. I don't care for their lemon variety very much, but I like the lime much better.
I headed over to the Lone Star and got there around 7pm. There were people outside, but it didn't seem to be a line. I just wandered on in. I stuck with bottled water, and it's just not as fun. I did get some fun time on the back patio with winegeek Bob, but being sober prevented me from pursuing that. I really can get shy. Had a nice time anyhow, and it was good to see lots of pals and lots of visitors.
