Yesterday was spent arranging more meetings for this big project. My role is totally administrative. I hate that stuff, but I do ok and it's high visibility. My bi-weekly Tuesday afternoon meeting was postponed until Wednesday morning.

The CEO finally sent an email about all the layoffs that have been going on. Guess that doesn't make them so "stealth" anymore? With it was an announcement of 250 more layoffs by year end. Our CIO later put out an email clarifying the IT jobs that left (east coast) and that there were no anticipated further IT layoffs. I think he meant during 2003. You cannot send all these tech jobs offshore without more layoffs. We've got a 3pm meeting Wednesday with our VP to discuss offshore, so we'll see if we learn anything there.

Got home and moved the piano out of the way so that Steve's movers won't run into it. His move is set for next Thursday. Woohoo!

FCD square dancing was good. The first half hour was Plus dancing. I stuck with "boy," and did just fine except for that damned "Swing Your Partner." By the end of the night, I think I figured it out. As boy, I just need to think to put my right hand on the ass. (Ok, on the hip, but my mind focuses on ass.) There were some additional new class members who seemed to pick up everything from the week before. Some of the class members are good. Others look like they'll do poorly. That's true for most new square dance classes I'm guessing. Interesting how the attractive class members seem to do so much better...

Seems that [livejournal.com profile] truthisdoing started my thoughts on Haiku. With nods to [livejournal.com profile] bigreddee and Sandy Kunz, and Junior's Sunday outfit, this just flowed:

His Garanimals
Are a focal point of Ugh.
Whatever Mary.

Oh, Andy happened to mention "Garanimals" at FCD last night. Michael and I just laughed.

With the need to change careers, I've been checking some online services. One site had me answer several questions, and it came up with the attached traits )

A compatible job for me would be postal clerk. The test looks right up my alley, and I get 5 extra points for being an honorably-discharged veteran. It took me awhile to realize that being an army veteran must add points only because I've already qualified on the rifle range. Why else would it matter? Naturally, openings for postal clerks in SF are non-existent right now.
