After Steve left on Sunday morning, I assembled the 3-drawer chest from IKEA. I also went ahead and moved the old TV stand downstairs by myself. Sliding it most of the way, it wasn't too bad. Doesn't look too good downstairs at the moment. Maybe once a TV is atop it.

I moved most of the other rarely used stuff downstairs. I think everything upstairs now is there to stay. I've yet to come up with a way to store my t-shirts and my DVD's and other media. Steve had brought up one of his wicker shelfs for the bathroom, so I nailed it to the window frame. It is now up out of the way, and the bathroom is less cluttered. I still need to figure out how to store towels and stuff for that tiny bathroom. I know I'm going to regret that there's only one bathroom. Not having one downstairs really bites. Oh well, time to get some plastic hospital urinal thingies.

I watched some Perry Mason and tried to get a nap. Around 4pm I headed to the Lone Star. It was dead, naturally. Steve arrived about 5:15pm. We stayed until around 7pm, then left for dinner at Metro. Crab & cheese appetizers, Egg Foo Young, and Tangerine Beef. Very good combination of things.

Got home and watched some TV. After Six Feet Under, I was off to bed. Without Steve's recliner up here, he's been using the couch while I'm off the floor. I went to bed and my throat was tight. I really think that there is something in the carpet or carpet cleaning chemicals to which I'm allergic. I woke up with a slight headache again. I think I'm going to try taking antihistamines before going to bed.

Made coffee for Steve, took out some empty boxes to his car and moved it closer, moved the table out of the way for the new washer/dryer install, and picked up the den. Things are not crowded now, and it's nice. I think Steve's furniture will fit just fine, then things will be swell. I'm really looking forward to when Steve is fully moved in and up here full time. I left Steve a note, then headed to work. Saw Steve Soward on the Muni. Instead of using the subway, I may experiment with taking the #33 bus, switching to the #12 and see how long that takes. Definitely less walking involved. I do love using the subway and running into people I know.

Got to work around 8am. My boss is "working from home" today. She must have just skipped on Friday. I had sent her an email on Thursday afternoon, but it wasn't marked "read" until this morning. I sure don't miss seeing her.

I started a preliminary list of party invitees. It's my 40th birthday, so I want to see lots of folks. The list is up to 66 names. With the short notice, I'm guessing at least half can't make it. I'll review the list with Double-0-Steven, then work on invitation wording.

Although I have tons to do here at work, I may head home after lunch to take care of stuff. Maybe stop by the Container Store today to investigate more t-shirt storage ideas. With Larry's t-shirt folding method, I'll probably end up usinge some short hanging wire baskets for those. Maybe just have them installed directly into the closet. We found a possible solution at IKEA for about 50 shirts, but I messed up the bin number and was unable to locate it. I took that as a sign. Anyone know a great way to store 200+ tshirts?

I stopped by the P.O. box this morning. I got another card from Rick in Butler, PA. He has sent me several great cards, having gotten my address from American Bear. Now I know that he reads my blog, as this was a "New Home" card for both Steve and me. Thanks, Rick! A postcard is on the way. Won't you send me an email?

I was hoping that my deposit check from the mansion would arrive. SF Law states that it must be sent within 21 days. Guess I've got 9 days to wait.

Ran into Michael and John at LS yesterday. Phil is the name of the guy who was with them at IKEA on Saturday.

I also forgot to mention how fun it was to shop for house things with Steve. Yet another bonus of having a partner. :-) Getting that puppy house-trained is another story!

Yesterday was Mother's Day and I made no mention of my mother. If you didn't know, my mother, Ruth Marie Zielsdorf Young, died of leukemia in 1977 at age 42 when I was 14. That was a long time ago.

One thing that I remember about my mother is that she had to have her coffee. If we were out doing errands with a couple of us kids, she'd stop at McDonalds. One of us would go in to get her a 10-cent cup of coffee, or else we'd all go in and watch her drink the coffee. Begging for something would work less than half the time. We knew the drill. She didn't spoil us.

I'm sure my life would be much different if she were still alive. Everything happens for a reason, though, and I'm lucky to have known her for that brief time.
