I went upstairs after making yesterday's entry, and Steve decided not to drive after all. Whew! We took Muni and easily found the bears in the designated spot a little before 10am. Fun to see some of the other contingents in the staging area. Scott, former Schwabbie, was on the SOMA Bare Chest Calendar float in front of us.

We waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, around 11:30am we were off. Marching in the parade was fun. Much better than standing on the sidelines. The walk wasn't bad at all, so I'm glad we didn't have the truck. Norberto, DAYvid, and Don(?) had the big bear paw arms and were a hit giving the crowd big hugs. They were perfect for the job. With the throngs of people, it was interesting to see lots of individuals you know waving back from the crowd.

We ended the parade route around 1pm. We headed for the Civic Center and got Steve something to eat. The crowds immediately put me in a grouchy mood. We stopped by the BOSF booth around 1:20pm to get drinks. I saw that Ruby wasn't there for the 1-3pm shift as designated. She's ever endearing. After walking around seeing the booths for awhile, we sat down for a bit on the grass, and my mood improved some. Guess I was just tired of walking. Got to see Armistead Maupin and Laura Linney make brief statements. We walked around some more and watched some two-stepping. Spoke with some pals, then headed off to the BOSF booth to work from 3-5pm. The time went pretty quickly. I made lots of tips for the club again. After that shift, I was in a really good mood. We then headed to the LS.

The line at the LS wasn't too long. We waited about 20 minutes before getting in. It was a big crowd, much more than the 99 limit. (Oh my goodness. Is that why I had a dream last night about answering a game show question about Barbara Felden being agent 99????) We ran into Bryan again. We had seen him pouring beer at a booth earlier where he let us know his partner died one week earlier. Sad stuff. Chatted with lots of folks. I even had my first alchohol in about 4 weeks. I had one drink, and later a shot of vodka and then a shot of Jack Daniels. Stuck with water the rest of the time. J was there and we made out some, while Steve made out with someone else. Life is good.

Steve and I left around 8pm and went to Leticia's for dinner. The Pollo Vallarta looked fairly Atkins-friendly. I just ordered more steamed vegetables instead of rice/beans. It was prawns and chicken with some vegetables & sauce with Monterey Jack cheese. Hopefully the sauce wasn't saturated with sugar. Probably had some corn starch, but gotta eat something. It was good. Jim & Rob and some of their friends came in and sat at two booths across from us. On the way out saw the notice on TV about Katherine Hepburn.

We were able to immediately flag down a taxi. Got home and caught the end of Sex In The City. Removed my vest and saw not-so-lovely sunburn stripes. That'll make for an interesting site during the Moonshine Tip at convention this weekend. I checked email. It was not even 10pm, and I was ready for bed. It was quite a long day. Steve decided to drive back to San Carlos for the night so he could put out the trash that's been sitting in his garage.

Got up to find decent weather. Uploaded the few pics I took this weekend: http://fuzzygruf.com/pride2003.html. Got into work. Already emails from Denise. Grrrrrrr. Hopefully the trip to the YMCA today will show results on the scale.

Thanks for sharing your pics. I wish I was there myself. Now for the not so nice comment: besides square dancing do you exercise? in a gym that is on a regular basis (I guess not, you would have mentionned it otherwise); You look great but that gut won't go unless you work out those abs ;-)

Yeah... Was nice to see a big crowd in the LS for a change again. It was like old times. Was still pretty quiet when I got there. But by the time I left. It was packed. Mark and Steve were telling me they got special permits for this weekend to allow 149 into the bar. I wish they'd get the shit done that needs to get done with the place so business can be as usual. Was good to see you and Steve yesterday and march with ya
