More square dancing on Sunday

Due to a club meeting, the A2 class was moved up to 1:30pm. Painful to watch. I danced several of the tips. Peggy called Motivate about a dozen times, and there are people in the class who just can't do it. That called was taught weeks ago.

One highlight of the day was that Peggy pulled me aside and said that she'd be happy to work with me one-on-one if I were interested in pursuing calling. That was sweet.

The club meeting went well over its allotted hour. They probably talked about 15 minutes on what to do about the one dancer who shows up each week inebriated. Not a fun topic.

The C2 class started about 20 minutes late. Harlan was out, so Fen filled in for some review. He did teach one new easy call, With the Flow, but the rest was review. It was good fun. With some of the choreography, just completing a sequence was really rewarding. I'm really enjoying the C2 class.

After class, I met up with biggerzbetter at Starbucks. We had a nice chat and went to Firewood for dinner. He headed home around 9pm, and I watched the final episode of Sex in the City. I went to bed and actually fell asleep before Steve wandered in after midnight.

For some reason, Motivate must be really difficult for some people to learn or relearn. We had the same problem at our A2 class last year; it got VERY frustrating.

The discussion about the inebriated dancer was a painful one indeed. It's tough to be both welcoming and open while applying limits on who you'll allow to dance. Having danced a number of times with the person in question, I applaud Mignight's pro-active stance.

As to learning Motivate, I don't think its that difficult a call but by the time its taught, it tends to pull the already weak dancers under the waves. I feel for doubleO Steve.
