Flashback: End of Vancouver/Seattle trip
Dec. 8th, 2003 11:00 amSlept in on Monday. Yep, more than six hours at a bar is a bit much. Went out for brunch at Two Parrots on the corner. Yum. I even got to speak "Canadian" and ask for brown bread (aka wheat toast).
My watch finally broke. We walked several blocks to a drug store, but didn't see any watches there. Came back, checked out of the hotel about 11:45am, then began our drive back to Seattle. What a difference from the previous Friday! Hardly any traffic, and we got into Seattle around 3pm. Steve and I napped for about an hour while Fred prepared dinner. Steve then helped make the dessert, a bread pudding souffle. David & Bryan arrived at 6:30pm. We chatted for a bit while Fred finished up the Etouffee ala Fred. I'm usually not a big cajun food person, but Fred's etouffee was incredible. He had gone to the Asian market earlier in the day for fresh prawns and scallops. Yum. I wasn't too impressed with the bread pudding souffle, but it was okay. I think I was still yearning for more of David's pumpkin cheesecake. [He sent me the recipe this week. Woohoo!]
After David & Bryan left, we watched Hal Holbrook "be" Mark Twain on PBS. Then we headed to bed. Didn't sleep too well. Got up at 4:45am and got ready for our trip. We left shortly after 5am and returned the rental car. The shuttle was pretty full, but we were the first ones to be dropped off at the terminal. It was before 6am, and the lines were LONG to check-in. Got through that, then had to wait in an even longer security line. Got to our gate about 45 minutes before scheduled departure. Due to SF weather, our flight was delayed for a couple hours. Grrrrrr.
We arrived at the International Terminal. That'd be great if I could just hop on BART, but our checked bags were over in the domestic terminal. Grrrrrr. Oh well, got into work a bit later than I had planned, but no big deal. Able to get everything done and then back home.
Home is good, but I'm looking forward to our next trip to Vancouver.
