I have a square dance gig tonight. I connected Steve's printer to print documents as usual. It printed some, but then the low-ink light started to flash, and it won't print anything. Steve's in Europe, so I can't ask him.

I changed the inkjet cartridge, but the light still flashes, and it won't print. Opening the properties for the printer, there is no "align cartridge" or anything. I've turned off the printer. I've turned off the computer. I just get the angry red flashing light.

Any ideas? It's a HP Desket 970Cse. I haven't found help on Google or hp.com.

Just a stupid suggestion, but since it's not your printer, I figured I'd ask...

Sometimes there's a piece of tape on the bottom of the cartridge to prevent ink spillage... Did you get that off? I always forget.

If you have another cartridge, that might be worth trying too in case you have a defective one.

Yeah, I had removed that tape thing after I shook the cartridge.

You're so clever. That page didn't seem to help, though. Looks like it would help if I found the printer software to install so that I could manipulate it a bit. I'm gonna table this for now. I might look through that manual some more later. Thanks a bunch for the link!
