Our bi-weekly group meeting was uneventful. We did get a new acronym: KAP - Knowledge Acquisition Plan. The KAP is to be implemented from mid-October through the first week of November. That means that those people who'll be eliminated from the department will be notified by October 15th.

After work, I stopped and bought a small handsaw at Cliff's for $5. I needed to shorten a rod for the closet. Got out the drill and installed the rod. Removed another shelf from a closet upstairs to utilize another hanging rod in a closet. Just a couple more rod supports in another closet and then there'll probably be about the same amount of closet space at our flat as there was at Steve's house. No small feat.

The UPS truck showed up about a minute after I got home. Good timing. It had my American Crew grooming spray. My barber got me addicted to it, but now I can't find it in the stores and have to order online. Safeway carries the gel and other products, but not the "grooming spray." Not having it for a couple weeks, my hair was happy for a spritz.

I left around 4:45pm to go to ECR. I took 280, and it wasn't too bad, even at that hour. I'm so happy to avoid 101. Once I got on Foothills Expy, I decided to go one extra light. Oops. Should have gone one more. Being early, I could take my time. I found a carwash that the car desperately needed. One less thing to do on Saturday.

I got to the church parking lot at 6:15pm. No one else there. I used a rag to take care of some spots missed by the carwash, then I studied some Advanced definitions. Rich Reel showed up a bit later, and I helped bring in some stuff from his van. Others soon showed up. We did some four people calls. I learned that at least one of the guys was taking the class for the 3rd or 4th time. Egads. We soon had enough for a full square. I made a couple minor mistakes, but it still surprises me that I do better than most. When Andy started at 7pm, I had no qualms squaring up. We did 4-person calls for awhile until we had enough for a second square. It was the first time for be to do box counter rotate from facing couples or couples facing out. I love learning new things. Andy stopped during the break to chat with Eric and me. He patted my spritzed head. ;-)

There were plenty of people for this last Intro night. I gave it my best angel smile. I only ended up with one new person who was dreadful. I think a language barrier made things tough on him. The new class starts next week. I heard that they have 26 students signed up. Wow. Big class.

The ride home 280 was peaceful. Driving should be fun, not the mania of 101. Got home and found the tape ejected from the VCR. Grrrrr! What did I do wrong? Crap. Upon closer inspection, I found that I had indeed taped the West Wing, and the tape ejected sometime after that. Perhaps it ejected when the tape ran out? (I had set record for an extra hour, not knowing if it was a 2-hour premiere.) Just happy to do something special for my honey.

Slept fitfully. I dreamed of going to some square dance convention pool party (last night Andy had mentioned the 7 pools at the Biltmore for next year's convention). There were all kinds of obstacle course things to do. Not expecting a pool, most people wore shorts or cutoffs, and we were kicked out of the pool. Also in the dream was Mr. Winkle. That dog was featured in yesterday's Zippy. Sheesh, the things the subconscious mind picks up.

Got up and was ready to leave for work early. I went down to forward my email address to my work-around webmail account accessible from work, when I got an email from Steve. Tried to exchange some emails with him, but we didn't really sync up. I then got an email from my sister, Kathie. She embedded a short sentence in one of her paragraphs that Tom, one of her ex-partners and the father of one of her girls, died last week. She said my niece was doing fine, and schoolwork is keeping her busy. I was taken back that she was so casual about it. I need to get a card out to my niece today. It'll be a change for her. I believe that she spent alternating weekends with her father. Now she'll just have the one home.

My boss is working from home today. With no looming deadlines, I welcome that news. She'll no doubt work from home as usual on Friday as well. Fantastic. I heard someone use that S.H.I.T. reference on the elevator this morning. It fits.
