iPod update

I made an appointment at the Genius Bar at the Apple Store this afternoon. I took in my iPod. "Diana" held my iPod up to her ear and shook her head:

Diana: "It's playing Swan Lake."
Me: ?????
Diana: "The hard drive is doing it's final swan song."
Me: "Ah, gotcha." (Thinking, oh shit).

I just sat there as she typed away and made some cryptic call to someone else in the store. I had no idea what she was going to do. Someone brought out a box. I thought they were going to put my iPod "into the shop" for a bit. Nope. They just handed me a new replacement iPod.

Sweet.

So why did you bring yours in? I've been thinking of bringing my 10GB iPod in because the battery is just not lasting longer than about 5 hours. I don't mind paying for them to fix it, but I'd rather upgrade if I can. Did they upgrade you?

Happiness is a new iPod

Did they give you a new color-screen one? If so, I am black-and-white with jealousy.

I guess it was playing the final movement of Schvan lake...the end. Good for you!

Shweet indeed!! That's great that they gave you a replacement

Apple's policy is to just give you a replacement, as it's cheaper to take your iPod, give you a new one, then fix the old one and sell it as refurbished. I had that happen with the original 5GB iPod.

Of course, I have since upgraded a few times. It's nice to get the developer discounts =)
