Arm yourselves - flu shot info
Sep. 2nd, 2010 11:38 amPart of my job is to call in prescriptions to pharmacies. One "on hold" recording from Walgreens encourages people to "arm themselves" against Influenze by getting a flu vaccine. Cute.
We had a staff meeting yesterday, and the boss said it's stupid to get a flu shot this early because the immunization wouldn't last through February or March, some of the flu-iest months. She thinks November is the best time to get one.
If you haven't heard, the H1N1 vaccine is now just part of the regular influenza vaccine. No need for a separate one.
There is also a new "High-Dose" flu vaccine this year aimed at people 65-yo and up. It's supposed to "last" longer. Our medical center won't be giving it as it hasn't been well-established. The FDA fast-tracked it, but further studies are in progress.
