Why are you here today?
Apr. 16th, 2010 02:40 pmMy earlier post prompted questions about why we ask the reason for a patient's visit to the clinic. Good question. Believe me, it's not to find out if you have vagina bugs. I have little interest in why you're at the clinic. Asking is just part of the procedure.
So why do we ask? For one, the doctors want us to ask. If the patient is having chest pain, we immediately perform an EKG instead of waiting until the doctor is ready to see the patient. If the patient is experiencing a urinary tract infection, we do a urine test. Having these performed before the doctor sees the patient saves lots of time.
