New TiVo

Steve got a new TiVo this week to take care of the Comcast digital incompatibility with the TiVo 2 box. It's HD, so when we ever get a new TV, we'll be set. (TV set. Get it?)

Steve figured out to get some switch so that we could access the old TiVo and new TiVo. He even got it to work all by himself. I'm impressed! I'm not good at all with this technical doohickey stuff.

In other TV-related news, I figured out that the TV in the bedroom gets some channels over #200, including International History Channel. When the regular History Channel is stuck on some "Gangs" or "Ice Road Truckers" marathon, I now have an option. (At bedtime, I usually get in a 4-channel rut: 62/63/64/65 - History/Comedy/E/Tru.)

TiVo was necessary this week. My potions class is the same night as Project Runway!

Insurance bastard of the week: Aetna

A patient of ours has been using Lipitor for hyperlipidemia for over 11 years. She just switched insurance to Aetna (due to changes in healthcare option at work). Aetna won't pay for the medication. They require the patient try a medication from a drug company with whom they have contracts. It has nothing to do with the patient's health. When she fails it, they will allow her to return to Lipitor. It's part of my job to deal with this crap every single work day.

Written homework done

I've finished the written homework for the chemistry class. As soon as I finished, I found the answers listed on the teacher's website. D'oh. (Apparently in the back of the textbook, too). It was a nice double-check. It was funner to work 'em out first by myself.

A lot of the chapter dealt with the periodic table. I previously had no clue on how it was laid out. Freakin' amazing. Like most thing, I have no idea how people ever came up with this stuff. Brilliant.

My favorite element is still Zinc. ♥
