Although an atheist, I sometimes fallback onto the biblical values learned as a youth. You can't go wrong with the Golden Rule, right? Other values turn out to not be so welcomed, and this gets me into trouble sometimes.
For instance, "Love thy neighbor as thyself" is not very practical, especially with my neighbor. When I went to jerk him off, he threatened to have me arrested.

Their Eyes Were Watching God
May. 6th, 2009 06:00 pmMy history teacher returned our book reviews last night. I got an A. I wasn't too surprised, as Their Eyes Were Watching God was the perfect book for the assignment (pick a novel that reflects a period of 20th Century American history). (I also followed the instructions, which some people chose to ignore.)
This morning on the #24 bus, I laughed when I saw that the junior high student seated in front of me was reading the same book. See? I told you I'd love to do the 8th grade again.
