My history teacher gave us a list of books from which to choose to do a book report. (Written or oral, my choice.) He described a few of the books on the list, including James Baldwin's Giovanni's Room. Steve told me that it's short, and the teacher said it was hard to put down. Have you read it? Although it takes place in Paris, I'm supposed to relay it to U.S. History somehow.

At lunchtime, I went to the Western Addition branch of the library and got a new library card. Turns out the cards expire every four years. Go figure.

Vanna has her vowels. On behalf of gays, I've decided to put dibs on quote symbols. $250 a pop, just like Vanna. I'll throw in a second one for free. Nice pair.

I've read one too many articles about gay "marriage" or about "gays" and lesbians. I've seen too many airquotes applied similarly while surfing past Fox "News." Until the royalties kick in, I'll borrow some of the symbols for "christians," "god," and processed "cheese."
