fuzzygruf: (crutches)
[livejournal.com profile] double_ohsteven's supershuttle arrived at 6:45am. I slept until time to kiss goodbye. I miss him already.

There are ways to take care of that. [livejournal.com profile] enhydrasf came over with some creme-filled goodness. Afterwards, he gave me a ride to the doctor.

The doctor didn't think my staples should come out yet, so she left them. She did say that my achilles tendon is "working," so that's a great sign. She put on a cast today. I'll keep that on for 3 weeks. Then I go back to have that taken off and have the staples removed. After 5 weeks of staples, I sure hope they aren't too "morphed" onto my leg. At that time, I'll be given "the boot." I guess I'll be able to take that off and shower. Three weeks of that, and then I should go for physical therapy for 6 weeks.

I did manage to see the scar today. It looked about 8 inches long. Maybe 9 if you use AOL.

The (blue) cast is stiff, and it makes my toes tingle. Hopefully, having a stiff one for three weeks won't be a bad thing.

Tonight I went to the theatre with [livejournal.com profile] pinkfish and his friend, Harry, who drove in from Belmont.

We went to Catch for dinner. Harry scored parking just across from the restaurant. Dinner was fine. It timed well for getting to the A.C.T. Theatre on Geary to see Sweeney Todd.

We were in the mezzanine "dress circle." I had worried about my cast and seating and my crutches. Luckily, one of the seats was on the aisle, and I was able to stow the crutches under the seats. The seat was perfect for this damned affliction.

The show was great. I have Judy Kaye on lots of cast recordings, so it was good to see her perform in person. This version with the actors playing the instruments was just amazing. What a feat. And except for the piano parts, they played without looking at a score. I was awed.

I've watched the Hal Prince PBS version a dozen times or more. It's the standard. I've also seen the Declan Donellan version in London. I saw the concert version here in SF with Patti Lupone (the most electrifying night of theatre I've ever attended). Oh, and I've seen the "Teeny Todd" version from Forbidden Broadway, LOL.

Tonight's version was good. I'm still just awed by the actors doing the music. As is said in Spamalot, "They are a different people: a multitalented people."
