Make a blow and wish
May. 31st, 2007 06:00 amIt was a fairly uneventful birthday yesterday.
It was my first day back to work since May 18th. I wore my mint-colored scrubs. A bit faggy, but the color is very soothing. The barista at the Starbucks near work made a comment about loving the shaaaaaade. I said thanks, but blushed at his feyness. He comped me my coffee. I said, "That's nice. It's my birthday today."
Later, I went on break, but I forgot to take money to buy a diet coke. I did have my Starbucks card on me, so I went to buy a small coffee. The manager was getting my drink, and the fey barista told her it was my birthday. "This one is on me," she said. Nice.
Work was uneventful. No one knew it was my birthday. No one seemed to miss me during my absence. WTF? The whole place was supposed to fall apart.
I got home, and we went to Anchor Oyster Bar for dinner. We had some year-old gift certificates that we finally used. Dinner was fine. Afterwards, we went to Starbears. Alicia was working and made a comment that I'm usually not in there so late. She took my tall non-fat latte order while the cashier was busy with the guys in front of us. I told her that we had just come from having a birthday dinner. "It's your birthday?" I went to pay for my tall latte, and Alicia told the cashier it was taken care of. She motioned me to the end of the counter. She comped me a grande non-fat latte. She had written "Feliz cumpleaños ♥ Gary ♥" on the cup.
I'm all about free drinks.
