Job search update
Feb. 21st, 2006 03:45 pmI went in to work the temp job this morning. Instead of waiting until next Tuesday, she wants me to come in again tomorrow morning. Yay.
After work, I went to Fort Mason. The SF Chronicle has been touting a HealthCare Job Fair for over a month. I was really disappointed. They only had about 9-10 employer booths. One was for the Army. One was for a hospital in Oregon. Another was for a hospital in San Jose. There were only two that had anything for Medical Assistants. Only one sounded halfway promising for even part-time work. I left pretty discouraged.
At least it got me to Fort Mason. I had only been there once before, and that was late at night for a bad trick. I walked back to the Marina Green, another first. On the way, I did get to see the Marina Safeway, featured in Tales of the City. That made me smile a little.
I did get a call this afternoon from a staffing agency. The pay she quoted is about $6 less per hour than the pay I've seen touting at most of the Medical Assisting jobs for which I've applied. I feel more worthless every day.
