We went to El Camino Reelers last night. In the middle of Advanced dancing, in walks Andy Shore.

I haven't seen Andy since he moved away in August. I heard his name a lot this weekend from Seattle & Vancouver people who had attended the Portland fly-in, where Andy was one of the callers. I've certainly missed him, and seeing him last night just emphasized it.

Len had told me that he had talked with Andy about doing some recording for BBear Productions. Guess that's a no-go. Damn. So many crappy people do square dance recordings, it's always nice when someone who is actually good makes one.

Len said that he is ready to record three more songs, but he's just waiting for the money to do it. I love listening to Len sing. He's also FUN to dance with, and cute to boot. He also would be honored if a club would ask him to call for one of their dances or fly-ins. As Rick Hawes said in Portland, "Andy Shore isn't the only GCA caller around."

The rest of the night at ECR was okay. Got to see [livejournal.com profile] excessor briefly, but GODDAMMIT KEVIN, he wasn't able to stay for long. Got to see [livejournal.com profile] tardis and [livejournal.com profile] urso for the second day in a row. [livejournal.com profile] urso had brought the Japanese newspaper with his pic on it. I'm in awe. He has a couple interviews today, so here's wishing him luck!

[profile] double_ohsteven and I went down to Sony Metreon to check out the laptops at the Sony store. Steve is trying to figure out what kind he wants. He needs a new computer really soon.

We got to the Metreon about 1:20pm. We saw that there was a 1:40pm showing of Polar Express on IMAX in 3D, so we went ahead and got tickets. We enjoyed it. Some of it was sappy, but the effects were pretty damn cool. I really liked the song "When Christmas Comes to Town." Later, there were a few bars of some incidental music that sounded familiar. I tried to figure out the song, but the scene moved on with other music. Later, the same few bars of the song were played. OMG. The composer totally stole part of the tune from "A Lonely Jew at Christmas" from South Park. (The part that goes "And I can't sing Christmas songs or decorate a Christmas tree.. Or leave water out for Rudolph cos there's something wrong with me.. ") I really love that tune!

After the movie we checked out the Sony Stores, then we went to Old Navy where I got a new coat. Then off to the Apple Store for Steve to check out some stuff. Then back to the Castro to Welcome Home for dinner.
