I'm on call this week. Last night was the first time. I've never been oncall with this employer previously.
Last night the phone rings at 11:30pm, right after I've fallen asleep. Oh shit. Must be work. Nope. It was a fax machine. I hang up.
They call back about 10 minutes later. Some fax machines let the sender hear the connection, so I yell into the phone before hanging up.
This happens a couple more times through the next hour.
When this happens at work, I just transfer the call to the fax machine. If I have time, I go get the fax and notify the sender of their wayward deed.
But what do you do at home? All I could think about was that Seinfeld episode where Kramer signs up for a fax service of all the restaurant menus in Manhattan and has the faxes sent to Elaine's home number. Steve tried *69 to contact the person, but that didn't work. Is there some code you can punch into your phone to alert the fax machine that it dialed the wrong number? Some code to punch in to block that number from dialing you again?
