Saturday dance
Apr. 5th, 2004 08:57 amI kept busy on Saturday. I assembled the last two bookshelves downstairs. Now maybe we can get those boxes unpacked!
Verified my installs from Friday night. Data looks good. Whew.
Had lunch at the Cove, then hung out at Starbears for a bit. Highlight was licking the caramel mocha frappuccino spill from Geoff's shirt. Tasted good, but my tongue is no substitute for Spay 'n Wash. Fiery boys are hot.
Later we headed down the peninsula for the evening's dance. We ate at the Fish Market in Palo Alto. I'd never been there. It was packed, so that was a good sign. We got a table immediately, and our server was good. I had the Alaskan halibut. I swear it tasted like chicken. Very bland.
Took some Breath AssureTM to take care of the chicken breath, then we headed over to St. Andrews for ECR's dance.
Jeanette Steuble from Zurich was the square dance caller. Andy had recommended her. She was going to Reno the next day for the Callerlab convention, so it was good to get her while she was "nearby." She had a thick accent, which was a bit hard to understand. It was just Mainstream and Plus, though, and pretty easy, so it made interpreting her accent easier. At least for me. She did a few interesting things. "Half sashay, men promenade" had a surprisingly nice flow to it. Her singing calls weren't too spectacular, but Steve pointed out that the song "Both Sides Now" has the call "NOW" embedded. She didn't take advantage of that, but I'll have to keep that in mind and use it whenever it is I get to calling. I went ahead and purchased it from Hannhurst.
Saw that Dave M. and Peter were chummy. That's a handsome pair.
I'd forgotten that some LJ peeps were down in Palm Springs, so I missed them. But others were there, including
handlebear and
nanocub. :-)
