I spent most all of my dancing time in the C2 hall. I didn't miss many opportunities. Most times we had 2-3 squares. I think the most we had at any one time was 5 squares.

I really would have liked to dance in the various halls, but I really needed floortime with C2. I danced in the Mainstream Hall for the Bear Tip and when Andy called. It was there that I heard the sound effect "Dude!" for California Twirl. I love sound effects! I danced one session in the C1 hall with Sandie. I went there to avoid a non-interesting C2 caller (on advice from other dancers). I went down to the A2 Hall to dance an hour of "hard A2." I knew I couldn't do hard C2. I would've done hard C1, but again, I was advised that it would be more fun at A2. WRONG. There were too many people in the A2 hall who should have dropped down a level. I didn't get a single good square. For the tough stuff, it just takes a couple bad dancers in a square to ruin it. I also spent an hour in the A2 hall with Steve for their "Intro to C1." That was okay. I also spent a couple hours of the Trail-In dance in the A2/C1 hall since there wasn't C2 then.

Other than those times, I was in the C2 hall. I didn't go to the leather tip or naked tip. Those can be fun, but I've done those before. They had some really great callers in the C2 hall during that time. I figured I'd have to take it upon myself to see some naked men later.

The C2 hall was full of fun people. There was not a single person that I avoided. (Well, one person showed up the first day who had not completed the C2 class, but he only stayed in the hall for a few tips.) Most halls have several people whom you avoid. Not in the C2 hall. (Okay, so maybe I was the one to avoid in this hall.) The first hour of C2 dancing was brutal. I was so frustrated with myself. I kept with it, even though I felt stupid. The next hour started off poorly as well. The second half of the hour was easier. The rest of the weekend was pretty good. I'd alternate between feeling good about my dancing and feeling frustrated. On the last day, I felt pretty good most of the day. The very next to the last tip of the weekend was fantastic. I felt wonderful. Then, I got super tired. I was exhausted, but the weekend was almost over. They killed me on that very last C2 tip. I continually did one particular call wrong, and they called it over and over and over using different ways. God, I sucked. My brain hurt and I didn't want to learn anything at that point. Sandie and Ben were the callers. Sandie called me over afterwards and made me tell Ben how long I've been dancing. That did make me feel special that she remembered that I was fairly new to the activity. I still felt stupid, but special, nonetheless.

More than anything, I'll remember dancing with some fabulously fun people in the C2 hall: Neil, Phil, Michael, Steven, Kathy, Kris, Turtle-Bear, Rick, Len, Bill, Tim, David, Tom, Kelly, Fran and many, many more. I always heard that upper-level dancers weren't very fun. That is totally wrong. The C2 hall this year just had some incredibly fun and nice people. It goes without saying that any dance hall is especially fun when Jordan drops down from the C4 hall.

Ken and Galen from my class did really well during the weekend. Don & Larry didn't spend much time in the C2 hall. Neither did Andy. Their loss!
