Prior Authorizations
Jul. 3rd, 2007 06:37 pmPart of my duties at work (dumped on me until a new person was hired, then not redistributed) includes handling Prior Authorizations for prescriptions. Insurance companies have figured out that if they make the doctor jump through hoops with a bunch of paperwork, the insurance companies will have to pay for fewer prescriptions.
When I started doing these in January, I'd get 6-10 per week. This has been steadily increasing. I worked on 16 just today. Healthcare insurance in the U.S. sucks ass.
