Wednesday Eye Update
Aug. 18th, 2004 10:00 amHad a 7:45am eye exam this morning. I left the flat around 7am and stopped in at Starbears, then caught Muni to Van Ness and switched to the N-Judah. Took that out to 6th Avenue and walked up to the clinic on Kirkham, behind UCSF. I arrived at 7:40am. It was locked. A receptionist showed up at 7:45am, but she didn't have the key. We waited for a couple minutes. I swatted a mosquito while waiting. With West Nile just one county away, those things are not a welcome sight.
Doors opened around 7:50am, and I got right in to see the doctor. He removed the bandages, wiped my eye, numbed it, then had me try to read the chart. I didn't do too badly, although I'm currently a long way off from my usual prescription.
He took a good look at the eye, and he said things are really coming along nicely. Yay! He bandaged up the eye, gave me another prescription for Vicodin, and I scheduled another appointment for Thursday at 12:45pm. We'll probably decide then whether I'll be able to go to Phoenix next week for the training at the screenprinting institute. I'm guessing that I'll have to postpone that as well.
On Parnassus, I caught the #43 to Stanyan. I thought the #33 went along Stanyan. I walked a few blocks, but saw no bus stop. I headed up 17th Street. Since I made it to the top at Uranus, I just walked the rest of the way home, since it was downhill. Good exercise, but the Vicodin from midnight had worn off. Got home and took the two remaining pills. An hour later, I'm feeling much more comfortable.
