to me it just shows a persons true colors. Some people have this I'm better than you attitude. I use to do volunteer work. Been there. And there were times when I didn't go back for that very reason. It shows a total lack of respect for people.
I've been burnt like that in previous volunteer efforts. I suspect that it's a power trip thing -- those who are tasked with organizing volunteer efforts, now that they're in a position where they can boss other people around, turn into swaggering little tin-plate dictators.
Oddly enough, they never seem to be able to connect their behavior and the fact that volunteers seem to be real scarce the next time some event comes around.
Of course, this is not to imply that they're all like that. There are some tireless organizers out there (Wes, if you're reading, this means you) who do respect and appreciate the folks who volunteer for them. They're the only reason I still bother to volunteer when I can.
You have totally hit on something that we can all relate to! it is one of those things (especially in OUR community) that defies logic, making it perfect fodor for some stand up comedian to run off with.
